Blackwood Freemasons: A Century of
Brotherhood, Charity and Community Support

100 Years

For over 100 years, Blackwood Lodge No. 93 has stood as a quiet but powerful presence in the heart of Blackwood. Established in 1920, this historic Freemasons lodge has not only upheld centuries-old traditions of personal development and fellowship but has also demonstrated an enduring commitment to the local community through charitable giving and hands-on support.

Situated just behind The CPAP Room at 229 Main Road, the Blackwood Freemasons meet on the first Wednesday of each month. But beyond these gatherings, the Lodge is part of something much greater — a state-wide network of Masonic lodges connected through shared values and the work of the Freemasons Foundation SA & NT, the organisation’s charitable arm.

A legacy of Giving

In times of uncertainty, hardship, or transition, many South Australians may not realise that financial assistance and community grants are available through the Freemasons Foundation. Whether you’re part of a not-for-profit, a local initiative, or an individual facing financial difficulty, support could be just a few steps away.

In 2017, Blackwood Lodge No. 93 demonstrated its commitment by donating a St. John defibrillator to the community — now located at the Drake Foodland store. It’s just one example of how Masons quietly serve the public good, often without fanfare.
In 2020, responded to need by donating $10,000 to Foodbank. This generous amount was subsidised $ for $ by the Freemasons Foundation SA & NT making a total of $20,000, funding a significant number of meals for those in need.

More than a tradition

As much as Freemasonry is built on ritual and symbolism, it is also deeply rooted in service, compassion, and community care. The members of Blackwood Lodge No. 93 are not just part of a fraternity — they are your neighbours, your volunteers, your supporters.

Freemasonry is a brotherhood of men from all walks of life. Regardless of background, profession, or belief, we are all equal within the lodge, bound by a shared commitment to support one another and serve our communities with dignity and humility.
