Blackwood Freemasons hold Open Night 2025
7:00pm
for 7:30pm Wednesday 3rd September at Blackwood Masonic Hall,
229 Main
Rd Blackwood SA
- Members of the public are welcome. If you would like a formal invitation, email the secretary at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- Come at 7:00pm for a walk around the building interior and see some of the history of Blackwood Freemasons going back to 1920.
- At 7:30 gather in the lodge room for the 'meeting' which will be opened by the Chairman, the Worshipful Master of the Lodge.
- A past Grand Master of SA and NT Freemasons, will take you on a verbal journey explaining how the meetings work, both business and ceremonial aspects; the roles of the numerous officers of the lodge, the rationale driving our membership, the care and charity systems, why we have a Chaplain and an Organist, and an Outer Guard; some of the reasons men join, the long tenure most of them have and how it impacts their ordinary lives.
- This will be followed by a brief history of Blackwood Lodge, and its current plans by one of the members.
- A short presentation by the Flinders Foundation on how Freemasonry can assist them with their work on suicide prevention.
- Then the speakers will host a Q and A session - your chance to have those questions answered.
- We’ll then retire to the supper room for food and drink where our MC (Director) will explain the traditions of the "Festive Board" toasts.
- After more opportunity for questions and answers, the evening will conclude at 9:15pm.
- There will be brochures and flyers available to take home with you. Yes! we are always welcoming enthusiastic new members but it is not a press-gang so if it doesn’t suit you, that’s fine, there’s no pressure.
So put it in the diary; bring a friend or your partner and come along to find out more about your community and the reason people you may know quite well happen to be Freemasons.
